The Saronic Islands (or Argo-Saronic Islands) situated in the Saronic Gulf southwest of Athens are among the most beautiful and interesting of all the Greek islands.
Aegina, Agkistri, Spetses, Hydra, Poros, Salamina and the peninsula of Methana, close to one another, these islands are small havens in close proximity to Athens.

Long stretches of sandy beaches, fragrant pine forest, and rocky capes against a backdrop of brilliant sunshine and crystal blue water provide an infinite variety of scenic beauty.

Here will definitely enjoy natural beauty, historical treasures, unique architecture, and glamorous, yet romantic atmosphere.
The cultures and people are as varied as the settings, luring visitors with pottery, sponges, pistachios, and almond cakes, which are available at shops and restaurants along the narrow, winding streets of the island towns.

Just two hours of calm sailing and you are in Aegina, the island of pistachios. Even though the island small, it boasts a great number of sights and natural beauties, highlight of which is the famous Aphea Temple. It forms in fact an equilateral triangle with the Parthenon and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, the so-called “holy triangle” of the antiquity. Agkistri is a tiny island with amazing waters. Poros with its charming landscape of yew and black cypress is a relaxing place for families.

The tiny island of Hydra, is a world without cars. Built in the shape of an amphitheatre on a slope overlooking the Argosaronic gulf, is one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Traditional stone mansions, narrow cobblestoned streets, secluded squares and above all the banning of cars and the use of around 500 donkeys as means of public transportation, explain the reason why Hydra preserved its distinctive atmosphere through the passage of time.

Then sail to Spetses, an island with a long naval tradition, famous for its significant contribution to the 1821 War of Independence. It was here that the revolution flag was raised on 3rd April 1821. The island has managed to retain its individual traditional character thanks to its well-preserved grand captain mansions, still bearing eloquent witness to the island’s glorious past.
