The name “Cyclades” refers to the islands forming a circle (the name in English means: “circular islands”) around the sacred island of Delos. According to the Greek mythology, Poseidon, God of the sea, furious at the Cyclades nymphs turned them into islands.

Cyclades is an ideal sailing destination offering about 220 islands. The major ones being Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Folegandros, Ios, Kea, Kimolos, Kythnos, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Serifos, Sifnos, Sikinos, Syros, Tinos, and Santoríni (Thira), all within easy reach with countless bays to anchor in all within very easy reach, so even if you are not the most experiencedadventurous of sailors you can fill every day with something new. Most of the smaller islands are uninhabited.
Wind and Sailing Conditions
The prevailing wind in the summer is the so called "Meltemi", which comes from the North, and is usually strongest in the afternoon and often die down at night. The Meltemi peaks in the middle of July until end of August at force 5-7 and may occasionally reach force 8. During spring and autumn, you may also be facing winds blowing from the south.
